In 2010, NET launched the new AM2 Assessment of Occupational Competence exam for all apprentices finishing a JIB Apprentice Training Scheme or an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship within one of the many training centres across the UK.

AM2 Exam

Updating what has been the benchmark of occupational competence in the industry for the last quarter of a century was never going to be an easy task but we think that NET has done their part to the highest standards in order to bring the AM2 up to date with the current demands and requirements.

One of the main additions in the new AM2 exam is the S Plan central heating and hot water system with a solar thermal sustainable energy element which could be essential for future electricians in the growing green industry of the UK.
Another big change is the addition of data-cabling with the use of Cat5 cable which is the backbone of a modern LAN network.

From now on, candidates will be required to perform full Inspection, Testing and Certification process as parts of the new AM2 exam.

All these major additions together with many smaller changes make the new AM2 exam significantly different from the old AM2 exam. To familiarise yourself with all the changes and to gain useful insight into every part of the new AM2 exam we invite you to read through the additional resources regarding the new AM2 exam.
